Our mission is to promote positive outcomes for young people by providing opportunities, creating positive relationships, and providing the support needed to guide our youth through making positive and healthy lifestyle choices.
About Ground Zero
Ground Zero : A Youth Empowerment Project was designed to engage youth within their communities, schools, organizations, peer groups, and families in a manner that is productive and constructive. Our program was developed to serve youth between the ages of 10 and 19 years old and who have been associated with the mental health system, juvenile justice system, or other family services.
Those enrolled in our program attend weekly meetings where they will have the opportunity to express themselves through art, though not all of our participants do. The meetings will act as a prevention and intervention strategy for each participant. Mentors will help recognize, utilize, and enhance the strengths necessary to meet goals. By meeting these goals we hope to instill our core characteristics: confidence, self discipline, integrity, courage, wisdom, and compassion. We hope to provide our participants with problem solving skills that will empower them to continue to thrive as young adults and carry the communication skills, practical techniques, framework, wisdom, and insight into their adult years.
Rebeka, founder of the program, obtained her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Kean University and her graduate degree in Forensic Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University. She also has completed her Life Coach Certification through the Kain Ramsey/The Academy of Modern Applied Psychology partnership program.
Our anticipated launch date for Ground Zero is June 4, 2018. Each participant will be enrolled for a 6 month period of time to complete the program. In addition to the weekly Ground Zero Meeting, each participant will have the opportunity to also attend one weekly general art class of their choice. Upon successful completion of the program, each participant will receive a certificate of achievement. There is no maximum amount of program sessions a participant can attend. Use the above contact form for program cost and enrollment.
**This program is not intended to replace counseling or therapy but instead to provide additional support for each individual youth
